Memorial Day Festivities
We went to the Children's Museum in Winston-Salem (about 1 hour away)today. At the Museum they had a interactive exhibit for Krispy Kreme's, (great marketing strategy) so of course after the museum we took everyone to the real Krispy Kreme's to let each kid pick out a donut. On the drive home Justin wanted to go strawberry picking, it was so hot that he ended up doing most of the picking while we sat in the air conditioned car. Then this evening Justin took Jaron and Alena on a bike ride on a trail along the Dan River. So nice to have a long weekend together as a family. Happy Memorial Day (do people say that?)
Gettysburg
Today we decided to go to Gettysburg. It was only about 1 hr 45 minutes and it was really fun. We did a driving tour with a CD we bought at the bookstore, it was very interesting. The kids were good and it was a beautiful but hot day.

My attempt at real belguim waffles
these turned out quite well, tasted almost exactly like the ones in Belguim, the key is the pearl sugar which is so expensive so these are a once a year delicacy.

WE'RE LOVING THE GREAT PHOTOS
Some cute ones of baby Oliver, more slip and slide, and Ryan with the teeny little popsicles that I bought for him. I was actually sort of annoyed when I saw how tiny they were. They are like one bite each. He was playing with Joel's baseball bat the other day, and he swung it so hard that when he completed the swing, he hit himself in the face... which is why he has a black eye.
